The day before

  • Confirm call time, address, and parking instructions with your lead.
  • Iron your uniform. Polish your shoes.
  • Pack a small bag: water, snack, breath mints, hair tie, blister bandages.
  • Get a real night of sleep. Standing for five hours is harder than it sounds.

Arriving on site

  • Arrive 60–90 minutes before guests, or whatever your lead specified.
  • Find the lead, sign in, get your table assignment.
  • Help set up if asked. Always help set up if asked.
  • Inspect your table: chips counted, cards shuffled, layout square, dolly/marker on hand.

During the event

  • Greet every guest who sits down. Smile.
  • Explain the game to anyone who looks unsure. No condescension, ever.
  • Watch your pace. Match the table — fast for experienced players, slow for newcomers.
  • Take rotated breaks when the pit boss calls them. Don't disappear unannounced.
  • If a dispute starts, stay calm, call the lead, let them rule.

Table closeout

  • When last call is announced, encourage final bets but don't rush guests.
  • After the final hand, count chips back into the rack. Match the starting count.
  • Cover or break down equipment per your lead's instructions.
  • Sign out. Thank the lead. Ask for feedback — every time.
